CLASS ATTIRE

Having a dance uniform as we do at Dance for Joi also teaches discipline. By having a set uniform that must be worn to classes and rules on how hair must be or the right shoes to wear, creates unity among the studio. Appearance is an integral part of discipline in dance classes. Among other things, it gives students one less thing to worry about and lets them concentrate and focus on learning and having fun in class!

NO JEWELRY AND NO T-SHIRTS OR JEANS

Jewelry is never worn to dance class and Teacher may ask student to remove jewelry while taking class. Small earrings are acceptable. The dance studio will not be responsible if jewelry is lost while taking class.

Class Attire

All dancers must have “Black Classic Leotard”, Flesh tights, and appropriate shoes for class.

Private Lessons

Private lessons will be coordinated with the director ONLY. Once an appointment for a private lesson has been made, if it needs to be cancelled, notification must be given at least 24 hours prior. Privates are paid to Ms.Joi, prior to the session.

COMPETITION TEAM

We encourage students to audition for the competition team their second year with DFJDC. Students are picked based on technique, stage presence, and very importantly commitment.
Team members represent the school and as such, we expect them to act and look their best during the regular school year and in any event where they perform. This includes wearing the appropriate dance attire when attending class as well as keeping their hair pulled back. We also pride ourselves for carrying ourselves professionally in the studio and out the studio.

GOOD attendance is expected of the Competition Team and there will be penalties for those team members absent without a valid excuse. Only cases of an extreme emergency nature will be considered as a valid excuse. Team members are required to take certain classes on a weekly basis.
